April's Behind the Desk

Welcome to April’s look into “Behind the Desk.” This month we are introducing you to Chris Robisch our Communications and Operations Manager. Chris came to Third Way Center in 2008 after selling insurance. He responded to a Craigslist ad and thought he would give the non-profit world a try. He began working as an administrative assistant for the entire agency just helping with moving furniture, picking up donations and helping with events. He now works in operations and development as a full time employee doing a variety of work from website development to electronic health records management.

This jack of all trades kind o’ fella left a life of competing in DJ battles and scratch records for 13 years to settle down as a husband and father. He has been married to his wife Amber for 4 years and they have an adorable baby girl who will be celebrating her first birthday this month.

Chris is a self-proclaimed part-time nerd and artistic dork as he likes to call himself. His true passion lies in his artwork which can be found all over Instagram. He has even published an academic piece on graffiti.

Chris looks back on his time at Third Way Center and says he started working closely with some of the youth here, mostly providing them with community service hours while he picked up in kind donations and those moments he truly enjoyed. He was reminded during those times that doing something as simple as being present and listening was important. “I know that I would first hear these statistics of abuse and victimization, I would be overwhelmed with the possibility of really making a difference.” He knows the answer is “yes” and getting involved is merely being present for that moment by cracking a joke, remembering their name, or even smiling. “These little things make all the difference, because too many people have been absent from their lives already.”

Thank you Chris for being such a supportive team member. We greatly appreciate all the hard work you do!
