Vocational/Educational programmingThird Way Center employs a full-time vocational/educational therapist as part of the treatment team. This therapist works directly with each resident to develop both long and short term vocational and/or educational plans. Short-term goals might include getting enrolled in a G.E.D. program, public school or obtaining a part time job. Long-term goals might include career assessments, exploring colleges, or applying to a vocational program. School and work are crucial in developing an emancipation plan. It is essential for our residents to develop a realistic plan. This plan could include working with programs like Vocational Rehabilitation Services, the public schools’ special education programs or work-study programs. Clients are also connected with community employment resources. Groups are also a powerful tool in dealing with job search skills, writing résumés, interviewing, obtaining a job and maintaining employment. Groups dealing with long term planning might include career exploration, research and shadowing, information on getting and filling out college applications. Third Way Center’s vocational/educational program works closely with the resident’s school, job situation, family therapy, probation, and social services taking into account individual treatment needs. Third Way Center has also developed a scholarship programs in partnership with the Denver Mile High Rotary Club and The Guardian Scholars program to provide our residents and graduates with the financial resources to fulfill their educational goals.
