Individual TherapyIndividual therapy is conducted in a variety of settings, using a variety of methods. Each resident is assigned a case manager (primary therapist) who is essentially responsible for the execution of the treatment plan. Individual sessions can occur on a daily or a weekly basis, in a formalized setting or while doing something like cooking dinner or shooting basketballs. At times, our residents are resistant to traditional therapeutic interventions. The entire team is involved in the individual treatment. The treatment plan is reviewed regularly with social services and the treatment team to continuously redefine and assess the treatment goals of each resident. The team approach allows residents many opportunities for individual therapy. The multidisciplinary team consists of masters level primary therapists, bachelor level mental health counselors, supervisory staff, the recreational therapist, the drug and alcohol coordinator, a consulting family therapist, a consulting licensed psychologist and psychiatrist. The team is well supervised and trained in a variety of approaches, and again takes the philosophy of treatment as very eclectic and might include behavior therapy and cognitive therapy. The treatment approach is chosen and tailored to the client’s needs. Individual therapy occurs on an average between 2 and 4 times per week.
