Ongoing Groups

Special Issues Group The objective is to provide a safe and nurturing environment in which to deal effectively with sexual and physical abuse. Residents are usually not at the same place in treatment so each facility designs a group to meet the particular needs of their population. Each facility has a males and females group.

The weekly groups are co-facilitated by licensed therapists

Males/Females Group Each facility conducts same sexed groups to deal with gender and adolescent specific topics including human sexuality and other concerns. These groups are facilitated by Master’s level therapists on a weekly basis.
Community Meetings There are semiweekly Community Meetings that allow for general announcements, education, and discussion of community issues and may include the resolution of community conflicts. Residents are required to attend at least one of the meetings. The group is run by one to five staff.
Grief Groups Grief groups are intended for residents with loss-related issues. Many of our youth have experienced numerous losses (through death, abandonment, failed adoptions, failed placements, etc.). These groups are conducted on a weekly basis and facilitated by Master’s level therapists.
Drug and Alcohol Group Each facility conducts an ongoing weekly drug and alcohol treatment group. The group is facilitated by both the Drug and Alcohol Coordinator and a Masters level therapist from the facility. A support group is also offered for those residents who have graduated from the treatment group or who are at risk due to family substance abuse problems.
