Mental Health Services
Third Way Center has very intensive mental health treatment services that blanket all other programs and services. We believe that treatment is truly the path to wellness.
- Our supervisory staff members (including Medical Doctors, Licensed Clinical Social Workers and Licensed Professional Counselors) have more than 100 years of combined adolescent psychiatric and counseling experience.
- All of our programs employ masters level therapists, most who are state licensed.
- We never use physical restraints.
- Diagnostics, thorough histories and proper assessments are the foundation for every treatment plan.
- We have licensed drug and alcohol counselors and masters level vocational education coordinators who serve every program.
- We have masters level social workers and therapists at our state approved school programs.
- Integrated treatment teams (including supervisory staff, therapists, counselors, teachers, case workers, community advocates, youth and family members) meet regularly to discuss future goals and to troubleshoot problem issues.
- Medications are not forced. Sometimes medications can be helpful, but we involve youth in all decisions concerning their treatment plans.
- Our programs are all designed to “de-institutionalize” youth who have grown up in the child welfare system.
- Every program strives to be home-like and welcoming.
- All staff members cook and clean with the youth and most of the significant therapeutic work is done in this context, rather than in an office setting.
- We encourage normal, positive and developmentally appropriate peer interaction.
