HolidaysCall Tami Lack or Valerie Gildea for more details about how YOU can help during the holiday seasons.
ThanksgivingEvery year, each of the treatment centers hosts a Thanksgiving open house in mid to late November. The houses are cleaned and spruced up and the kids and staff work together to cook a glorious feast. Youth may invite anyone they want, including family, friends, caseworkers, teachers, etc. Christmas & HanukkahDecember is typically a difficult time for our youth. Many do not have families and most are dealing with serious issues that are compounded during the holiday season. We try to make the programs festive, but very supportive and nurturing. The staff hosts a very intimate gathering where a special dinner is prepared and gifts are distributed. Donors and volunteers come together to help us support our youth during this difficult season. Our “adopt a youth” program is open to all donors and friends of Third Way Center. Each year, every child in placement has an individual or family that buys them two or three items that they have written on a “wish list.” This is a $75 donation and requires that you shop for your youth and deliver your gifts (unwrapped) to our administrative offices by the first of December. Stocking stuffers are also needed for each house. Smaller items such as lip balm, school supplies, small calculators, hygiene items, etc. are distributed throughout the houses for a special “family party” at each house prior to Christmas. If you can obtain items in quantities of 70 to 80, this is very helpful for us.
