The individuals who join Third Way Center’s team of dedicated Volunteers & Mentors understand that they are essential to the success of our teens. They provide support in a variety of ways including guest speaking in classrooms, assisting in event planning and coordination, mentoring teens, as well as helping with painting and landscaping projects. Third Way Center has plenty of opportunities for individuals and groups to get involved in our mission!

Greenhouse Attendant (Volunteer)

Greenhouse Attendant (Volunteer)

Job Description: Third Way Center is seeking a Greenhouse Attendant Volunteer!  We are a residential treatment facility serving teens who have experienced unspeakable trauma.  We have a continuum of care and utilize various methods to reach different youth at different stages in their trauma. 

The Attendant is able to provide a peaceful setting for our teens to reflect and work through their issues.  Our Greenhouse Attendant is able to work with some of our residents on occasion teaching them the skills needed to plant, cultivate, and maintain greenhouse plants.

This position takes ownership of the greenhouse and it’s day to day running.  It will be year-round and the hours are based on the needs of your greenhouse.  Utilities and some supplies are provided by TWC.  If there is the need to teach formal classes compensation will be provided.

Minimum Requirements:  Will need to pass an extensive background check including the Diana Screen.  Occasional teaching with clients when they are interested in helping with the greenhouse care.  Green thumb needed.

Mentor

Mentor

Job Description: Many of the youth at Third Way Center are in need of positive adult role models. Mentors develop lasting relationships with our youth, providing guidance and offering them stability in times of crisis. It’s common for Third Way Center Mentors to  become close friends with our youth, as they are known to attend high school graduations, Thanksgiving, and other celebrations.

 

Minimum Requirements: This is a 12 month commitment (min) and requires an extensive background check including the Diana Screen. Download the Mentor Agreement PDF for more details about mentoring teens at Third Way Center.

In-Kind Donation Manager (Volunteer/Internship)

In-Kind Donation Manager (Volunteer/Internship)

*This is an unpaid internship or volunteer position

Job Description: Our organization relies heavily upon donations to aid in our mission to offer truth and hope to high risk, mentally ill, disadvantaged and often homeless adolescents and their families.  As such, the In-Kind Donation Manager plays an essential role in assisting Third Way Center Development team in procuring and scheduling donation pickups.

The In-Kind Donation Manager is also responsible for the distribution of donations to all houses, as well as maintaining and organizing Third Way Center’s storage space. She/he will be in direct contact with not only the Development team, but also donors and office managers of all houses. Ultimately, the In-Kind Donation Manager  will be responsible for assessing and meeting the needs of all houses to help our facilities operate efficiently.

Minimum Requirements: Third Way Center, Inc. is currently seeking a highly energetic individual with a professional attitude. She/he must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and must have a clean motor vehicle record and reliable transportation. We’re looking for an individual with a clear interest in helping Third Way Center in its mission to offer truth and hope to the teens in our programs. She/he must be able to lift 50lbs or more and be willing to commit a minimum of 4 hours per week.
